WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Workhorse Group will file a legal challenge in February against the U.S. Postal Service’s decision to award a multi-billion dollar ten-year contract to Oshkosh (NYSE 🙂 Defense to manufacture a new generation of postal delivery vehicles , a source told Reuters.
The contract, valued at more than $ 6 billion, enables the delivery of 50,000 to 165,000 vehicles over a 10-year period, which will be a mix of internal combustion engines and battery-electric vehicles.
Workhorse had proposed the construction of a fully electric vehicle fleet for USPS and won the support of many US lawmakers. USPS did not comment immediately. The bid protest will be submitted to the US Federal Court on Wednesday, the source said.
