Twitter Shares Insights into the Rising Okay-pop Dialogue on the Platform [Infographic]
Like it or not, whether you know it or not, K-Pop is a huge topic on Twitter, with the platform now becoming a major network for K-Pop fans.
In fact, K-pop is so big that it’s the dominant discussion topic in the app.
As explained by Twitter:
“K-pop continues to dominate conversation on Twitter worldwide, even in unprecedented times. Fans are turning to Twitter to chat with their favorite K-Pop artists and the #KpopTwitter Community around the world. In the last year between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021, there were 7.5 billion tweets about K-pop, which is another record for the most K-pop-related tweets per year. “
In context, Twitter recently announced that the gaming discussion on the platform reached a new high in 2020 with a total of 2 billion tweets.
The actually huge Twitter gaming discussion thus accounts for a little more than a quarter of all K-Pop tweets. It’s hard to understand just how important the K-pop Twitter community really is.
This also provides further insight into how K-pop tweeters have been able to mitigate the effects of various racist and controversial hashtag movements by flooding them with K-pop-related tweets instead.
In fact, the K-pop movement is strong and possibly strongest in the fast-paced tweet feed.
