Spotify rival Anghami to launch leisure venues in Dubai, London, L.A. and extra cities worldwide
In an increasingly crowded and competitive music streaming market, some say that most of the services are essentially the same in terms of what they actually offer.
Well-known music streaming company Anghami, which focuses on the Middle East and North Africa, has just taken a giant step to differentiate itself.
Prior to listing on NASDAQ via a proposed merger with a SPAC called Vistas Media Acquisition Company, Anghami announced plans to launch a new hybrid entertainment venue called Anghami Lab in multiple cities around the world.
The first venue will open in Dubai in early 2022, followed by openings in Riyadh, Jeddah, Cairo, Beirut and other global cities such as London, New York and Los Angeles.
To introduce the new concept, Anghami has teamed up with the Addmind hospitality group, whose event portfolio includes restaurants, bars, lounges, beach clubs and nightclubs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Qatar and London.
Anghami says his lab concept “will be the first to combine both online and offline worlds and combine digital and traditional entertainment”.
According to Anghami, the venue will have a lounge, stage and studio where artists can experiment “by collaborating to create music inspired by both Arab and international cultures to be performed at the venue”.
The resulting music will be exclusive to Anghami, and the company says its app will also offer unique features that complement both experiences.
In addition, according to the company, the cuisine served at Anghami Lab will be “a mix of Arabic and international recipes that embodies the essence of Anghami and offers an international flavor with an Arabic flavor”.
“We are excited to work with Addmind to create this unique, transforming experience for our users.”
