New Report Highlights the Progress of Information Hacks, and Key Considerations Amongst Internet Customers [Infographic]

With all of the data breach and hack reports that have become increasingly common recently, have you updated your personal security processes or even your social media and email passwords to improve your own protection?

This could help you get active. The RouterNetwork team recently produced a new research report on data hacks around the world, highlighting the need to take the issue seriously.

The report contains data from HaveIBeenPwned, which tracks corporate and web services breaches around the world. RouterNetwork also surveyed 1,007 Americans to learn about their experiences and concerns about data breaches.

On the most important findings and comments:

  • As of 2007, a data breach has affected 11.5 billion accounts.
  • Respondents were most concerned that Facebook, Instagram and their financial accounts were breached
  • 89% of respondents are still somewhat concerned about the use of sensitive information such as credit card information on the Internet

The data suggests that ecommerce providers need more security to relieve stress on that front.

Also, a strange point of interest:

“Data breaches are most likely to happen in winter and on a Monday or Thursday.”

Seems like hackers have a little more time in the colder months.
