What is it like when your fellow students want to take pictures with you because you are famous? How does it feel to be voted the most popular, best eyes, brightest future, and every other category in sixth grade?

Mads Lewis knows what it feels like. She came on stage while she was still in elementary school and hasn’t slowed down since.

Lewis is a TikTok star with over 12 million followers on the platform.

Her success came quickly.

She said, “It happened literally a week after I started posting on Musical.ly. The first video I ever did was with my girlfriend and the next one she told me it was going to explode. And I thought, ‘What is that? Why do so many people see it? ‘ So I decided to post on Musical.ly and a week later I started covering everything and getting airborne. “

After gaining popularity, she experienced the hatred that all great creators struggle with.

Lewis said, “People would squirt chewing gum in my hair or throw food at me. When I was in sixth grade, I was friends with everyone and had lunch with everyone. But in eighth grade it was just me, my sister, her best friend and my brother. “

She decided to take her high school lessons online and moved to LA to pursue her dreams.

She started shifting her audience to other platforms like Instagram and YouTube to expand her reach.

It soon averaged two million views per video on YouTube.

What’s your secret to going viral? Lewis said, “Most platforms are interest-based algorithms. I can say that those who like comedy, dance, fashion and youth news are likely to find me on their For You Page. Most people aim to get the FYP (For You Page) and if your video does well it will likely get shown to more people as it is recognized as a trending video. “

Your content creation process is pretty simple. Lewis said, “When I create content, I usually just inspire it. But I follow a lot of trends like: dance trends, transition trends, etc. I also read from my devotion (my beliefs) to give messages to my supporters. And I like to make videos that show a normal day in my life. “

Her advice to fans who want to follow in their footsteps is, “If you find it funny, post it. Do not doubt yourself. Be confident.”

In addition to her work as a creator, she focuses on singing and acting: a trend popular with creators looking to expand beyond social media platforms.

Lewis hopes to open a restaurant one day. She said, “I’m not going to give away too many of my ideas, but I’ll let you know it is going to be a hit! Have you always wanted to go to a super chic restaurant in your pajamas? Or a not-so-chic restaurant with a tie or dress? You might want to go there after the prom. Stay tuned!”

If she ever opens a restaurant, rest assured that an army of her devoted supporters will be lined up around the block.
