As MBW reported in June, the Indian music label Venus Music was taken over by the Paris-based sales and service company Believe in 2019.
As part of this 100% takeover, Venus Music has now renamed itself Ishtar.
The acquisition in 2019 included all of Venus Music’s music rights.
The company’s catalog includes non-film music as well as Bollywood film music across sub-genres such as regional, pop, classical, ghazals, qawwalis, devotional and instrumental.
The first project under the newly founded nickname is the Indian playback singer Mamta Sharma, who is best known for her tracks Munni Badnaam Hui and Fevicol Se in the film Dabangg.
The new track, titled Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai, was released on August 5, 2021 on Ishtar’s YouTube channel and digital platforms.
Believe officially went public on June 10th and debuted on Paris Euronext this morning.
The company spent 14.35% of its equity through its IPO and raised EUR 300 million in the process.
“This rebranding represents a significant step in the development of the company.”
