Google Advertisements API helps Efficiency Max campaigns, Key phrase Planner and proposals

The Google Ads API has been updated to support Performance Max campaigns, the keyword planner and recommendations, the company announced on Friday. In the announcement, Google also confirmed that the AdWords API will no longer be available from April 2022 and will then be replaced by the Google Ads API.

Why we care

These updates add more flexibility and use cases to the Google Ads API. The Keyword Planner can help advertisers identify keyword ideas, and its support within the API can give PPC professionals (and possibly SEOs) more opportunities to make better use of this data.

Although Performance Max campaigns are already designed to be easy to manage, the API support means that some advertisers no longer need to go to the Google Ads web interface to make adjustments to their Performance Max campaigns.

In addition, the discontinuation of the AdWords API was first announced in April 2021. Marketers should ensure they are ready to transition to the Google Ads API before the April 2022 deadline.
