Sony Music Group’s $100m World Social Justice Fund helps 90 new organizations

Sony Music Group (SMG) has announced that more than 90 new international, national and regional community organizations will receive $ 100 million in funding from SMG’s Global Social Justice Fund.

SMG said the rollout was part of its “global commitment to addressing inequality and injustice around the world”.

Sony Music Group announced its $ 100 million fund last June.

Today’s announcement marks the third round of funding from the SMG Global Social Justice Fund.

Overall, with today’s announcement, the fund has helped expand the programs of more than 300 global organizations.

Funding recipients have so far included the Fondo Guadalupe Musalem in Brazil, Pour 3 Points in Canada, Key4Life and the Young Urban Arts Foundation in Great Britain, as well as the Advancement Project and Race Forward in the USA.

SMG said today (May 10) that the recipients funded in the last round included “community partners who help advance impartial solutions in civic engagement, criminal justice reform, educational programming and youth advocacy.”

These organizations, SMG said, will have an impact on communities across the African continent, Australia, Canada, the Latin America region, New Zealand and the UK. and the USA.

SMG added in a media release: “All Global Social Justice Fund beneficiaries will be selected by a diverse, global advisory committee that represents the departments of Sony Music Group.”

The breakdown of the allocation organization in round three is as follows:

  • 24% educational initiatives
  • 23% citizen and community engagement programs
  • 21% civil rights and social justice organizations
  • 17% youth organizations
  • 15% additional programs for equality, culture and wellness

All non-profit partners of the SMG Fund are divided into the following pillars: civic engagement, criminal justice reform and education.
