“As a kid, as a young rapper, Def Jam Records was the holy grail of hip-hop.”

Snoop Dogg said in a video announcement, “You may be wondering why I want to work at Def Jam Records so late in my career? Let me tell you why. As a kid, as a young rapper, Def Jam Records was hip-hop’s holy grail.

“It was the label that all the artists communicated, connected, released great music, great videos and films, and they always toured together. They always did things together. They were like family. Your street team, the radio team, you executives. They were hip, they did video games, they did comedy shows. They did all kinds of shit that I wanted to partake in.

“Then Death Row Records happened so I didn’t get a chance to be on Def Jam, but I always had the dream of being on Def Jam and being in a place where hip hop was born. When I got the opportunity, my main focus at Def Jam Records was helping and giving love to the artists and giving them wisdom, guidance and understanding and teaching them the tricks I learned in-game to help them develop their portfolios diversify not just rappers and not just artists, but superstars, superheroes, so to speak. “

Snoop Dogg’s appointment as Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant at Def Jam follows the appointment of British rap superstar Wretch 32 in the UK in December as Creative Director of 0207 Def Jam, Universal Music UK’s recently launched frontline label under the leadership of the twin brothers Alec and Alex Boateng.
