Vodacom Tanzania has teamed up with the Kenyan based music service Mdundo.com to launch a music package for all Vodacom customers that gives its subscribers access to Mdundo’s premium service and exclusively curated music.
Mdundo was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Denmark. It is available to global users but focuses on 15 African markets including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Rwanda, Cameroon, Congo, Malawi, South Africa and Namibia.
Mdundo has over 7 million active users per month and collectively more than 20 million downloads and streams per month, it is said, and also works directly with 100,000 African artists and offers a catalog of 1.7 million African and international songs.
With the Mdundo Mixes Bundle, Vodacom Tanzania offers subscribers the music of their choice, from salsa to rhumba to bolingo. The mixes are also curated by Tanzanian DJs and artists including DJ Massu, DJ Summer, DJ Bike, DJ Feruuh, DJ Allybu and DJ YLB.
By partnering with Mdundo, Vodacom will provide Tanzania with a unique means of acquiring new and old music, but will also expand its reach to subscribers in urban and peripheral areas.
Mdundo is already one of the leading music services in Tanzania and will reach even more listeners with Vodacom Tanzania, which according to Vodacom has a base of 15.5 million mobile phone subscribers.
