Having simply raised $3.5m, Swedish AI music startup Starmony lets customers ‘create and launch a world hit inside minutes’
Swedish music technology company Starmony, along with a group of angel investors in the music industry and existing investors Luminar Ventures, Max Ventures and Almi Invest, raised $ 3.5 million from Brightly Ventures, Bonnier Ventures and Acecap.
AMusic business veteran Jonas Siljemark is one of the new angel investors (ex Warner Music) and Ola Håkansson (TEN Music Group).
Starmony promises that users can create hits with just their voice.
According to an explanatory video (see below), users record themselves singing or rapping and then the app uses AI to analyze the vocal sound and delivers “several professional music productions ”for these vocals“ in just one minute ”.
The company says it has built a network of professional producers to create these productions.
After the artists have recorded their singing and chosen their production style, they can edit the different sections of the song (intro, verse, chorus, etc.) and add effects.
The final track can then be distributed to music streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify from within the app.
Starmony CEO and co-founder Jan Nordlund claims the app “enables anyone with talent and a smartphone to create and publish a global hit”. Within minutes”.
The company states that the royalties generated by streams are shared with both the music producers behind the productions and the artists who record their singing.
Starmony’s iOS app, currently released with a waiting list, will now see its beta user Tests extended, followed by a mass market release early next year.
