After promoting stake to Dwell Nation, Veeps equips 60+ US venues with livestream expertise
One of the areas of the music business that saw significant growth during the pandemic was live streaming – and it’s not going to go away anytime soon.
Live Nation Entertainment and livestream platform Veeps have started to provide live streaming technology to over 60 concert venues in the USA.
Los Angeles-based Veeps was founded in 2017 by Joel and Benji Madden of the band Good Charlotte, who sold a stake in their company to Live Nation in January.
Claims that its live streams helped artists “make over $ 10 million” in 2020 alone, Veeps has worked with artists such as Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Brandi Carlile and Patti Smith.
With the new Veeps setup at the Live Nation venues, every artist who plays there can now broadcast their event live “at the push of a button”, according to the two companies.
Companies say they have selected venues that are already regular tour stops, from clubs and theaters to amphitheaters.
Some of the venues to go live first include The Fillmore in San Francisco and Philadelphia, House of Blues in Chicago and New Orleans, The Wiltern in Los Angeles, and a number of amphitheaters including the Shoreline Amphitheater in California and The Gorge in Washington.
The Wiltern is already set up and will debut a series of 10 streamed shows on Veeps entitled “From the Wiltern” starting May 7, 2021.
“Artists and fans are eager to get back to shows, and livestreams will continue to give them the opportunity to socialize more than ever.”
Michael Rapino, Live Nation Entertainment
Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation Entertainment, said, “Artists and fans are excited to return to shows, and live streams will continue to provide them with opportunities to network more than ever.
“Veeps is the best they do. Benji and Joel use their own experience as artists to help other artists achieve success, and we look forward to bringing this innovative idea to life in these iconic locations.”
“It is a huge win for our community to help artists bring a whole new touring industry to artist, and we couldn’t be happier. This is exactly what shows what our partnership with Live Nation can really mean for artists. “
Joel Madden, Veeps
Joel Madden, Co-Founder of Veeps, said, “It’s often said among artists that the one side of our careers that really belongs to us is touring.
“It is a huge win for our community to help artists bring a whole new touring industry to artist, and we couldn’t be happier.
“These very kinds of things show what our partnership with Live Nation can really mean for artists.
“With the push of a button, any artist playing in these locations can turn their show into a global event.
Madden added, “We’ve already seen livestream shows boost engagement in every other area of the artist business, and the additional ticket revenue will allow them to reinvest in their art and even better what they offer their fans do. For us at Veeps and our mission to support artists in their careers, a dream come true. “
